VCRN raises funds to support the work of our volunteers when deployed to respond to disasters impacting Virginia. This year, we hosted a 2-day training event with Joanne Twombly, LICSW, titled "What You Need to Know about Successful Treatment of Complex PTSD & Dissociative Disorders, with EMDR & Without!"
Joanne Twombly is a psychotherapist in private practice in Arlington, MA. She has over thirty years of experience working with C-PTSD and dissociative disorders, and provides trainings and consultation. She has written on EMDR and Dissociative Disorders, EMDR and Internal Family Systems, and on working with perpetrator introjects. Her commitment to helping her clients heal and to providing quality training has resulted in her becoming an EMDR Consultant and a Trauma and Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Program Facilitator, Internal Family Systems Certified, and an American Society for Clinical Hypnosis Consultant.
During this training event, Ms. Twombly provided our 108 participants with an overview for diagnosis & treatment of complex PTSD & dissociative disordered (DD) clients. Through lecture & case examples, we learned how to work effectively & safely with this population, and with clients who might not be making progress in traditional treatment.
